Example: a busy Saturday at a convenience store
A customer has scanned half their shopping when they realise they've left their wallet in the car. The cashier taps Hold Sale, serves the next three people in the queue, then taps Recall when the customer returns. The basket comes back exactly as it was, with the same prices and the member discount still applied. If the shop's internet drops in the meantime, scanning carries on, because the catalogue is on the till.
